Bracken Klar (he/him)
Bracken Klar worked in libraries and bookstores for over 20 years, earning his Master’s Degree in Library & Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma in 2010. His professional experience in diverse library settings, The University of Tulsa’s College of Law Library, the Tulsa City-County Library as a children’s librarian, a media center librarian, the physical services supervisor, and finally as a project manager before finishing his career in libraries as the Head of the Upper School Library at Holland Hall School, contributed to his fluency across all forms of critical inquiry and research.
Bracken decided to transfer his skill set out of the library world and became the Director of Community Engagement for Tulsa Public Schools in 2019. In this role he leads City Lab and makes connections to and strengthens existing relationships between TPS and the wider Tulsa community. In partnership with his Design Lab coworkers, he also contributes to TPS’s High School Redesign efforts.
Bracken is Vice-President of Tri-City collective and the Co-Associate of Focus: Black Oklahoma, where he also contributes as a correspondent.
